By heading the Charit\u00e9 research group for Gastrointestinal Microbiology his research interests are focused on host interactions of enteric pathogens and intestinal inflammation with a focus on the development of animal models for the investigation of <em>Campylobacter<\/em> infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Charit\u00e9 laboratories for clinical diagnostics he completed a five year practical training in medical diagnostics of bacterial pathogens including infection epidemiology and received a certificate for medical infection biology from the German Scociety for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM).
